Ticketless ANPR parking - no ticket, pay by licence plate
Ticketless parking has no ticket machine and no pay station. An IP camera reads the licence plate at the entry and exit, the system calculates the fee for the parking time, and the driver pays online. GMWEB delivers the whole system: cameras, barrier, software, billing and the management panel. Plate-based payment runs in production on our system.
How does parking without tickets work?
1. Entry
The camera reads the plate, the system records the entry time and opens the barrier.
2. Fee
The fee is calculated from the plate and parking time. The driver pays online in the PWA app.
3. Exit
The system checks that the stay is paid or the vehicle is on a list, then sends the opening pulse.
Ticket-based vs ticketless parking
| Ticket-based parking | Ticketless ANPR parking | |
|---|---|---|
| Entry | Driver takes a ticket from a machine | Camera reads the plate, barrier opens |
| Fee calculation | Based on the ticket | Based on the plate and parking time |
| Payment | Pay station on site | Online in the PWA app |
| Lost ticket | Penalty fee and manual handling | There is no ticket to lose |
| Season holders and regulars | Cards or remotes | Vehicle list, free entry |
What the project includes
Recognition runs on standard IP cameras with ONVIF and RTSP. One local unit handles two cameras, for example entry and exit, so video does not have to leave the site. Camera selection is covered in our ONVIF IP camera guide.
When does ticketless parking make sense?
- Paid car parks where the pay station and ticket machine create service costs and exceptions to handle.
- Sites with both visitors and regular users: visitors pay for their stay, listed vehicles enter for free.
- Unstaffed car parks where the operator wants to see entries, transactions and reports in a panel.
Licence plates are personal data under GDPR, so the site operator sets the retention period and the information notice before launch.
How much does ticketless parking cost?
The software is billed as a subscription: 200 EUR per month net for the mobile package, 400 EUR for Start with two cameras for entry and exit, and 600 EUR for Business. Cameras, barrier and installation are quoted after a site audit, because they depend on the number of lanes and the existing infrastructure. Full pricing: ANPR system cost.
